Court to give final ruling on Paul Afoko suspension case today

The Human Rights Court in Accra is set to deliver its final ruling on the dispute between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its suspended Chairman, Paul Afoko Monday August 15, 2016.
Mr Afoko sued the NPP in December 2015, claiming that his suspension by the party’s National Executive Council breached party constitution.
Joined to the suit are the NPP and its Acting Chairman, Mr Freddie Blay.
Paul Afoko is also challenging the constitutionality of the party’s Disciplinary Committee that recommended his suspension.
The decision is said to have been taken when the NPP’s NEC unanimously voted to suspend Mr Afoko indefinitely thus upholding the decision by the Disciplinary Committee.
The decision comes in the wake of an earlier petition by Council to the Disciplinary Committee requested for Afoko to step aside until the 2016 general elections are done with.
Mr Afoko has allegedly been working to undermine the party's chances of winning the December 7 elections.
